Laura was borne in Santa Paula, California where her parents worked in the fields. For the sake of children’s education her family moved to Santa Clarita in northern LA. She completed her education here and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She had proclaimed her talent in news anchoring at San Luis Obispo and Freshno fresh out of college. In 1989 she became a full time anchor at KABC – TV. Her struggle continued until 1997, when she was appointed as a lead female anchor for 5pm and 11pm newscasts.
